Who doesn’t love a good deal? But how do you know it’s a good deal? What will the job cost?
How long will it take to complete? Who’s responsible for removing your current setup? When can we start?
A free estimate may or may not answer your questions, but a design service will absolutely cover the details of a project, and there will be very few surprises.
Most homeowners underestimate projects by 30-40%, and many contractors don’t take the time to properly estimate a project. Instead, they’ll “ballpark it”. Ballparks are huge … and a groundout and a homerun are both in the same “ballpark”.
For example: Ricky’s Roofing comes by your home to quote that new shingle job, and says he’ll do the whole house for $4,500. Since Reputable Roofing’s detailed, written quote was $6,500, Ricky gets the job. You write a check to get “on the schedule” and wait. After 4-5 phone calls listening to his excuses for delay, Ricky’s finally ready to get started. He wants to know where he can toss the waste, and he didn’t plan on tearing off the old shingles, he doesn’t do that. Ricky, even though he does an ok job, has cost you more money. You needed to get a dumpster to haul away the old shingles, and hire a few guys (Ricky’s buddies) to tear off shingles. He adds $600 to the final bill for “fixing the gutter”.
Reputable Roofing clearly stated in the estimate what they planned to do, how long it would take, what materials were provided and that they included the disposal fees for the old roof. In the end, Reputable Roofing was the better deal.
The design service is a way to get the project you’ve dreamed about, you’ll see it in 3D, and we’ll be able to modify the plans to fit your particular situation. You can remodel the remodel. If the new design doesn’t meet your expectations, we can try something different … without using a sledgehammer! We get the layout right, meet onsite with your contractor and determine the most cost effective solution to your remodel or new construction. You’ll know the cost of the cabinets and counters before you are committed to the project. The only surprise will be how unsurprising the project will be, but your friends will be blown away!
